About the Salt Cave
The walls and floor of the salt cave are covered with many layers and different sizes
of crystal salt. Tonnes of large salt rocks surround the patients. This salt is dry and
clean. To ensure the purest quality, we use Himalayan pink crystal salt.
Inside the salt cave, visitors can experience the following conditions:
- humidity of 40-50%
- temperature of 70-75 F
- the aerosol concentration of 0,5-15 mg/m3
The salt aerosol consists of salt particles in sizes of 1-5 mkm. The particles carry
kinetic energy which is succeeding immediately after crushing the salt crystals in the
grinder.
In case of different diseases, various cure modes can be implemented. For example,
the level of the aerosol and the duration of the treatment can be adjusted according
to the wish.
Usually, the common salt treatment session lasts about 45 minutes. This is repeated
every day for several days, depending on the patient's needs and the condition. It is
also recommended to repeat the treatment 2-3 times in a year.
The salt cave prefigures a dry, sterile and hermetic space.
The large amount of dry rock salt creates a special microclimate which is identical to
the underground salt caves.
The patients sit in relaxed positions on the comfortable chairs during the sessions.
Light therapy and calming music are added to help the patient relax. The aerosol
emerging from the salt generator is curative for various health conditions.

The Salt Cave - Halotherapy
|

How it works
Extremely fine salt destroys the bacteria and fungi on mucosa at the same time
strengthening the immune system related to mucosa. Therefore, children who have
been treated in a salt room have stronger health and they fall ill less frequently.
Employees of salt rooms have also experienced the curative influence of it, saying
that they have not been ill with any viral diseases during the last two years of working
in the salt room. Salt also relieves mucus oedema: you stop sneezing, the congested
nose disappears, and rhinitis is relieved or disappears. However, sometimes you
start coughing more after being in a salt room. Still this does not mean that your
health has worsened. Quite the contrary - it is a sign of recovery. Salt aerosol is
good for your nervous system and relieves stress as it contains several negative
ions. Besides, salt therapy helps to get rid of various dermal problems, as salt
destroys bacteria on your skin.

The Halotherapy belongs to the category of the physical therapies non-drug and non
invasive treatments of diseases. In the former Soviet Union, medical researchers
engaged in a concerted effort to develop physical therapies in order to avoid the
costs and side effects of drug therapy as well as microbial and tumour resistance.
Russia has become the world leader in developing and testing new and increasingly
effective physical therapies. Many of the clinical trials have focused on Halotherapy
as a treatment of asthma and chronic bronchitis and also very effective as a main or
adjuvant therapy across the entire range of upper and lower respiratory tract
diseases.
Respiratory diseases are a major cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Most
drug therapies of respiratory diseases have only palliative effects, and many have
significant side effects, especially those with corticoids or steroids. So, a physical
therapy like Halotherapy is greatly needed.
In countries like Romania (Praid, Tg.Ocna, Seiged, Sovata, Slanic, Ocna), Poland
(Wieliczka), Germany (Teufelshöhle), Austria (Hallen, Solzbad-Salzeman), Armenia,
Belarus, Bulgaria, Hungary, Russia, Slovenia, Ukraine, Nakhichevan mines in
Azerbaijan, the salt aerosol plays an important role in the treatment of chronic
respiratory diseases, working well with or without medical treatment and without any
known side effects. Because of these, pregnant women with asthma or other
respiratory diseases could use this therapy without any harm to the child. Very well
known and appreciated in these middle-eastern European countries, this therapy is
covered by the public health care system. In Romania there are also many salt lakes
- Sovata with 7 salt lakes, Ocna Sibiului with 52 salt lakes in S-W of Transilvania, very
well known in the treatment of infertility, metabolic diseases, skin diseases. These salt
lakes were usually formed by collapsing of salt caves' ceilings. All these salt lakes
have different salinity, increasing with deepness – from 9g/l to 320g/l.
Salt therapy, being very well known for its beneficial effects, inspired a Romanian
inventor to put his mind at work and develop a device that is able to reproduce a
speleotherapy micro environment in an affordable and convenient way.
Internationally recognized, with Gold and Silver medal at “Salon International des
Inventions", Geneva and “World Exhibition of Innovation, Research and New
Technology", Brussels, this Romanian invention brings new hopes in the natural
treatment of chronic respiratory diseases.
The inventor thought this device as an air salinizer that uses forced ionization of the
indoor air by salt sublimation creating a micro climate of dry aerosol salt therapy. He
used a natural process of salt crystallization to obtain salt micro crystals under 5µm in
diameter, invisible to human eyes, being able to penetrate deep into the lung. The
device uses only natural salt from within the mountain of salt, untreated or touched
by the human processing technology.
Based on clinical studies, the inhaled saline has bactericide, mucokinetic, hydrophilic,
anti inflammatory properties, reducing inflammation in the whole respiratory tract,
absorbing edema from the mucosa lining the airway passages leading to widening of
the airway passages, restoring the normal transport of mucus and unclog blockages
in the bronchi and bronchioles leading to rapid elimination of the residual tar and
foreign allergens, all of these in a natural process. Edema of the nasal mucosa and
the oropharynx and soft palate, causing nasal obstruction and snoring is diminished,
leading to widening of the airway passage in the nose and the tubes of the sinuses
and improving the sinuses drainage and reducing snoring. In the auditory tube,
edema of the Eustachian tube causing ear infection, is also diminished, leading to
widening of the airway passages, better drainage and better aeration behind the
tympanic membrane.
Background
The basis of the halotherapy (salt therapy) is speleotherapy, i.e. cure in the
atmosphere of salt caves and salt shafts. According to the old facts, the medieval
monks took the sick to the salt caves and let them breathe in the salt particles, which
were created while the monks were crushing the stalactites.
In the mid 18th Century a Polish health official Felix Botchkowski, noticed that the
workers of salt mines did not get ill with lung diseases. He wrote a book about the
effects of salt dust in 1843. His successor M. Poljakowski founded a Salt Spa in
Velicko near Krakow, which is still in operation. During the Second World War salt
mines were often used as bombproof shelters. After spending time there many
people who suffered from asthma felt that their health had gotten better! Today there
are many salt sanatoriums in Europe.
The healing power of the salt was also noticed at the end of the World War Two,
namely at the bomb shelters. Very soon, the sanatoriums for asthmatics were opened
in German, Swiss, Hungarian, Bulgarian and Yugoslavian natural salt caves. The
scientific research of the efficacy of the salt started in 1968. As a result, the officially
approved scientific basis of speleo therapy was founded. This came about in the
Hospital of Allergic Diseases in the city of Solotvino, West Ukraine, where the
treatment and research was carried out in the salt shaft. Much obligated to the
research results, the new effective asthma treatment method was established. It
acquired the name of "halo therapy". It is based on patients' being in the special salt
room, where the salt aerosol is constantly scattered into the air for the patients to
breathe in. The salt aerosol consists of tiny and dry salt particles which are grinded in
the special salt generator.
Every breath of salty air you take, every precious microelement of salt you inhale in
the salt cave is an irreplaceable, natural cure for many health conditions. Sit back,
relax, and experience the incredible health benefits of the salt therapy.
The salt therapy was found to have beneficial effects in the treatment of:
- Asthma
- Long acute diseases of the upper airways
- Chronic diseases of the airways
- Chronic pharyngitis
- Chronic tonsillitis or inflammation of the tonsils
- Chronic maxillary sinusitis
- Chronic inflammation of the pharyngeal tonsil
- Bronchitis which has persisted longer than two weeks
- Chronic bronchitis
- Relapsing bronchitis and pneumonia
- Chronic and acute otitis
- Frequent viral infections
- Polinosis or hay rhinitis
- Atopic dermatitis
- Psoriasis
- Putrid dermal infection
- COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease)
- Cystic Fibrosis
- Ear Infections
- Smoking Cough
- Reduce snoring and activates better sleep by clearing the airway
passages in oropharyngeal region
Salt Therapy - Halotherapy
When it comes to maintaining your health or restoring lost health, salt is one of the
most beneficial elements you can put into your body. People spend thousands and
thousands of dollars on expensive drugs, treatments, and nutritional supplements
that don’t do anything to supply the fundamental trace minerals needed for survival.
Salt is a vital substance for the survival of all living creatures, particularly humans.
Therefore, it is essential for creating and maintaining perfect health. Despite the
common belief of salt being "bad for you", it actually plays a key role in our health.
The benefits of salt therapy (also called Halotherapy) are well known and
documented in Europe. Halotherapy uses dry aerosol micro particles of salt to treat
respiratory and skin diseases as well as other health conditions.
